Focus and determination to achieve goals
It has been 2 years and 8 days the last time I posted an entry on this blog. Problogging and even simply blogging took a back seat. It is not that I neglected this blog but I got preoccupied with other things, first and foremost, golf.
Whether you have read my past blog entries or not, I would like to look back to what I wrote more than 3 years ago on Goals, Priorities and Determination, and Making Changes and Changing Focus, and more than 2 years ago on Blogging and Problogging Priorities.
I really changed my focus because of my goals in golf. Many years ago, some colleagues have been encouraging me to get the Club Champion title of our golf club in Ladies division. But I was not really very keen to do it in 2010 to 2011. I joined the club championship and have won on the first day but always lost on the second day. I ended up not getting the trophy because I was not determined to do it. It was because the title was not that important to me.
I only wanted to get a lower handicap, lower than what I mentioned on Goals, Priorities and Determination. This year, I again lowered my handicap but not a single handicap yet. It took me several years from 2009 to 2012 to get to my handicap now. It did not go down that fast. It took so long for me to lower my handicap and considering that it is not even a single handicap yet.
Knowing and having the confidence that I can really lower my handicap, I also realized that we could also compete then at the golf tournament that we have liked to participate. In 2011, we decided to join and qualify for the golf tournament being held yearly in Estoril, Portugal. We tried to qualify in Bogogno, Italy in Summer 2011 but to not avail.
In Summer 2012, we tried again to qualify for the tournament in Bogogno, Italy and we did it. We qualified for the finals that was held in Estoril, Portugal in Autumn 2012.
But two (2) weeks before qualifying for the Portugal golf tournament, I also tried to get the title as the Club Champion of our golf club. I decided then that this year 2012 is the year for me to get that title. I was determined to win the Golf Club Championship and I did it.
Let me inform you though that I am an amateur hobby golfer and not a professional golfer.
It is probably not a big deal for others but lowering my handicap to what I have now was a hard work. Winning the Golf Club Championship was another one. Qualifying for the finals in Estoril, Portugal was also another one. I was so focused and determined to do it. For one thing, golf is a game of precision and concentration.
The Portugal tournament was a team effort, and we did it too. Even if they say that I play good, a team is always a team and team work is very important. I always say that even if I play so good but if the other one on the team is not going to perform, then all my effort will just be put into waste.
There were other things that I also achieved like winning in ordinary golf vacation tournaments in Belek, Turkey in Autumn 2009, in Gran Canaria, Spain in Autumn 2010, in Cascais, Portugal in Spring 2011 and Spring 2012, winning in ordinary golf tournaments at our golf club, and travelling to different countries for vacations.
We travelled to Hong Kong, Philippines, Ireland, Germany, France and Turkey in 2009, then Philippines, Ireland, Wales, Germany and Spain in 2010, then Portugal, Philippines, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Brunei in 2011, and Portugal, Philippines, Italy, Canada and the United States in 2012.
As much as I do not want to mention my golf wins and vacation travels, I decided to mention them to emphasize that those golf wins and vacation travels were definitely accomplishments already but the three (3) achievements that I mentioned earlier were the most important ones for me because it took me years to achieve them with all the hard work, patience, perseverance and determination.
I needed to… change my way of thinking, set my priorities, set my mind into it, and really focus into achieving them. And… I did it!
If I can do it, so can you! Just set your goals and priorities, make a change and focus, and set your mind into it!
That goes with problogging too! The golf season is over, so I have all the time again to focus and do something about this blog. I have thought of a lot of things on what to do with this blog. It was supposed to be for documenting my problogging experience but my golf hobby took the front seat. My golf hobby as always took the lead.
Thinking of what to do with this blog, a lot of ideas came into my mind. Well then, there will be some changes on this blog in the next coming months!
Let me inform you now that I will be blogging about almost everything on this blog any time soon. So, stay tuned!
